"Splash" by Judith Beauchamp

Irish to the bone,
Full of storm and thunder,
You named me Splash
And even now I wonder,
How we knew at first
View of each other
Ours was a great love,
A gentle rain,
Awash with
Laughter...

In early years,
Full of self, and mischief,
A winged brown flash
Leapt with heart,
And you there,
Urged me on,
higher and higher,
Reveling in the start
As I then made a
Very big splash...

Jumping, retrieving
Fetching, twisting,
Silhouetted in life's
Fire, you smiled as
My antics grew fanciful
And I would prance,
Aware always, I was not
Alone, content to be
Your bad boy hero, not
Expected to atone...
I loved to play,
To be your monster
And yet, at the end
Of the day, amidst the
Rough housing, what I
Really wanted was a
Warm cuddle and
By you, my special friend,
Silence and the
Space to be...

To know you, knowing me.
Oh, what a song we did sing.
It happened fast, too soon,
The passing over,
The beat of wings, a parallel
Dimension. And in this place,
In these moments, in the golden
Sun and glowing moon,
The song continues, tilting two
Souls in dancing shadows...

I groan as you squeeze me,
And there we are, bathed in
Bronzed rays of a soft light,
Pillars of infinity. Me,
Splashing on
Wherever, whenever you
Need and want me to be.
Deb, I come to you,
Arms wild and wooly,
Our love story...

~ Judith A. Beauchamp
Splash (CH Realta's Meteor Shower VCD3, UDX, JH, MX, MXJ, WCX) was born in Minnesota on April 28, 1998, bred by Rosemary Sexton. He was one of six in a litter of Irish Water Spaniels (IWS). Splash was always referred to as bigger than life and was, in fact, an unusually large IWS, one of great presence and versatility. He was so creative, innovative and intense that he existed in a constant state of charged motivation and if not being challenged, this charge got him into mischief. Splash did everything with gusto including guarding and loving his owner, Deb Nezgoda of Morris, Illinois. As Deb stated, "Part of me died when on April 21, 2008, Splash unexpectedly passed over the rainbow in Perry, Georgia at The Irish Water Spaniel Nationals. This was 24 hours after he brought the house down performing Free Style to the music "Live and Let Die".

Splash excelled at all venues of training and loved Free Style which is obedience moves to music. He started winning AKC Titles at an early age with his first title at six months e.g.

Tracking Titlesix months old
Agility Title13 months
Obedience Title13 months
Breed Champion Title15 months
Breed Champion Title26 months
All Around Title26 months
Hunting Title26 months
Versatility Dog Extreme Title-First Dog in AKC to win this Title-

Splash continued to be a winner of Titles and a true multi-tasker though the age of seven years when he was then limited to the specialties and continued his training at home which he loved.

"I feel that Judith has captured the splendor of Splash, his personality even the frothy mouth he had when challenging himself. Splash will now live on in spirit and always be there for me"
~ Deb Nezgoda
